Rare chocolate glass butter dish in a delightful #375 cactus pattern. This cactus pattern was made by the Indiana Tumbler & Goblet Company in Greentown, Indiana around 1900 - 1903. The distinguishing cactus and herringbone pattern details are nicely defined. There are the typical bubbles, streaks, lines, and swirls from the manufacturing process . Some small areas of roughness on the edges from being removed from the mold. Chip in base that was not professionally repaired by previous owner. Small, superficial scratch on bottom of the base. Some flea bites. Good overall condition considering age and handling. Chocolate glass, sometimes mistakenly called caramel slag, was made by the Indiana Tumbler and Goblet Company of Greentown, Indiana, from 1900 to 1903. Chocolate glass is pressed glass and ranges in color from a lighter latte color to a darker, espresso.This would be a great piece for your slag glass collection or can be used as an accent piece in your kitchen!
